I gave this a try for about five hours on a saturday afternoon a few weeks ago. I finished one game and it was fun, but decided I'd seen enough because it was just too attritional for my tastes.
It takes ages to get together a decent army, then when battle is joined the AI kills most of it in one turn. Repeat over and over until you've whittled their forces down.
I only saw one of the alternate worlds for one single turn. I sent my best unit through a portal and it got utterly stomped straight away.
Seems like it has some good ideas, but for me the balancing needs a lot of work.
