Destroy doesn't work because I just set the Geth free to dictate their own future and then, oh look, now I'm going to destroy you.
Thinking about it, destroy does work quite well for my character. At the end of Mass Effect I held the fleet back and didn't save the council because I wanted to make sure I hit Sovereign with absolutely everything rather than jumping in early.

Likewise, at the end of the ME3, Control and Synthesis sound way too risky and far too much like what other people have tried throughout the series that destroy seems like the only sure way to defeat the threat, unfortunately at the price of taking out the Geth as collateral damage.

My own misgiving is that it's presented as a choice by you-know-what which immediately makes me treat it with suspicion. It's like it's saying "I created the Reapers and carried their plan through this far but, hey, I've suddenly changed my mind because YOU got this far and I'm presenting you with these 3 wonderful, never-to-be-repeated offers. Choose and WIN!! Honest!! Please ignore the fact that I look like that child you feel guilty about and sometimes I have the problem with my voice where I sound bit Reapery!"
