Your PC is probably weighed down with having to boot lots of applications at startup.
Things like Realplayer message centre, adobe reader downloader, itunes helper, quicktime player, etc etc.
Go to Start -> Run -> then type "msconfig" -> go to the far right tab "Startup" and see how many apps are listed with ticked boxes. They are all the programs Windows starts each time you boot.
You could probably get away with unticking MOST of those apps, although one or two might be important....but I doubt it :-D
