Xbox 360 and PS3 are built with other companies chips.. they have to buy them from the manufacturers
Ninty wait until the chips are no longer economically viable to manufacture, and then buy the RIGHTS to chips and manufacture them themselves... the savings are enormous. £10 a chip vs 10p a chip.
