I got mugged when I first moved over here (Spain) - about 2 weeks after I'd moved. I'd been out with work and was walking home (not entirely knowing where I was going as it was all still new) and when walking - from behind I had one person grab one arm, another person grab the other and another clonk me over the head with something (wood, brick, bottle I have no idea).. woke up with phone and money missing and a in pool of my own blood 
Was brought round by a nice Spanish couple who took me to a nearby police car who said... report it on Monday (this was Friday BTW)...
My Spanish friends said it looked like it was down to gypsies targetting people late at night, on their own.. and apparently the local police in Spain dont want to get involved with the gypsies... havent made that mistake again!!!
