Just finished 'A Game of Thrones' and working my way through 'A Clash of Kings' by George Martin.
General impressions: Long. Violent. No f**king elves.
Reminds me most of the HBO series Rome (the sex, violence and political backstabbing) - and bodes well for the TV version of the first book which is in the works. Sean Bean is Eddard Stark all day long.
My only concern at the moment is that I'll hit book 4 and be left kaaahning the man for not releasing the final 3 parts. Of course I'm going to disregard that and have all the available books read by the end of month... doh.
