If ATi release a 2gb 5870 then i think it'll be able to cope with AA/AAF or whatever much better and the gap will decrease for a while. Driver updates will keep Fermi on form i'd hope and of course these won't be the only cards NVidia make with this chipset.
Autumn/Winter should be interesting
