@Megapocalypse I don't think shin splints would normally take that long to heal. I had a problem with shin pain last year, which I took to be shin splints but turned out to be stress fractures. Waking up to constant pain sounds awfully familiar.|
Thing is, after they were diagnosed, I took 4 months off running and that was enough. Is it definitely the same pain? I was worried the problem had returned when I re-started, but I think it was just a return of shin splints and a sign to take it easy. Main difference for me was that I didn't get the crippling pain the morning after a run.
Definitely go get it checked out. Took an MRI scan to spot the fractures though, so don't get fobbed off after just an x-ray.
