Are the Bible Belt lot on Xbox Live? Surely video games are the devil's work?
They aren't anti-technology, that's the amish. Bible belt politics is less about complying with the teachings of the bible and more about stamping out homosexuality and the teaching of evolution in schools.

It's very small minded, but they won't see anything wrong with their kids shooting up innocent bystanders in GTA, though they will go crazy if their kid happens to be talking to a lesbian. It makes little sense to us, but that's how life is down there.

Either way, it was foolish of her to put her sexuality in her profile, Xbox Live is not a dating service, and she most likely knew it would warrant attention and that may well have been her goal.
Why foolish? surely she was simply notifying the backward usless incest loving Americans of her sexuality so they would avoid her and not be offended when they found out she is a lesbian.

Sorry I don't see the problem with someone simply stating they are gay/lesbian/bi/does animals etc on their profile, as the profile is meant to be about you! Just typical of Americans who think they run the sodding world to jump on this kind of stuff, when as stated above sleeping with every member of your family is the norm down in the bible belt and looked upon as a great achievement.

Whats next you wont be allowed state anywhere that you are gay/lesbian or whatever and everyone will assumed to be hetero?
It's not facebook, it's a gaming service. I rarely discuss anything on Live other than games, even with my friends, and I really don't want someone telling me about their sex life while i'm there, whatever it might be like.

The Live terms of service say you shouldn't refer to your sexuality in your profile, and it's probably to prevent the kind of harrasment this woman is complaining about. People are bigoted, small minded and scared of things that are different, you can't change that, so MS are probably just trying to reduce the problems these kinds of issues can cause.
But from the article it states it was on her profile and she wasn't discussing it. And I can't see her sitting at her xbox going into graphic detail of what her and her partner get up to in the bedroom.

And as the poster below states, they wouldn't ban anyone for putting I am Str8 as their user name or on their profile.

I still dont see what the problem is, I don't get offended by anything on someones profile, just gives you an indication of the person they are so you can decide whether or not you wanna talk to them or add them to your friends list.

Can I take it from your statement that you yourself comply with the XBL terms of service to the letter? that you have never once swore in a game at someone, used bad language in general open chat etc?

If you have then shouldn't you be banned as you have broke the terms of service?

As you can see there are taking things to the extreme which is whats happened here in my opinion
