Continuing my quest to repost every n-th Slashdot post here, I present you with a Guardian article (hey, maybe you read it as a hardcopy) on the misconceptions of irony. You constantly see the word abused online, and most likely you've use it inappropriately yourself on occasion, so this article might be educative. If not, it's still written very well, so you might as well read it if you've got nothing better to do. And since you're here reading the message board, you obviously haven't. |

 Of course, all of this indicates not that "irony" is being mis-used, but rather that it is undergoing a change in meaning. At least that's what a strictly descriptive linguist would probably say.
