Handheld gaming device: there are LOTS of games, free and not, out for Iphone on the apple store. Jailbrake it and you'll have emulators and SCUMM as well.
Movie player: VLC is out for jailbroken phones.
Ability to code and script: Don't know about this. Would be surprised if this can't be done on a jailbroken iphone.
I still fail to see the great benefits? Granted - you need to jailbrake your phone in order to do all of it (and I have not), but it is still perfectly possible, and there are lots and lots of people writing stuff for jailbroken iphones?
