Saw the program last night. Having read the preview I was expecting to see a grumpy old man. But if you're feeling ill (and clearly he was) then it can be very difficult to be the cheery, jovial old boy that the Hamster wanted to find. So what you end up seeing is a very ill man coming close to the end of his days.
While I was watching I thought it would have been interesting to see what a more seasoned interviewer (someone like Clive James maybe) would have made of it all.
