    The cleaning thing is a good idea. I've seen it done myself and it's nice to see students showing some respect for their immediate environment and learning some cooperation. It's certainly difficult to imagine it happening in a British school without half the kids/parents complaining. On the whole though, I wouldn't recommend emulating Japan or any other east country's education system. They mostly rely on relentless rote memorising to achieve results and stifle creativity.
