Exactly. Also, I wonder if the higher ranked players will be grinders like you and I, or will they pay to win? Only one answer to that folks.
Dude, they may very well be absolutely telling the truth, but here's the thing: that's what *all* game developers using microtransactions say.
I am firmly against microtransactions/freemium models but this is clearly neither.
While the thread is clearly strongly worded, I can't believe some people are so accepting of micro transactions and pay to win. They should be resisted at all costs.
I wish people would just read what rockstar wrote, you do not need these coins, its an optional thing for inpatient people. It does not and will not affect your game if you never buy them.
If your enjoyment of a game is soured by seeing another person with a different gun/car than you can buy then go play something else.
I hear nintendo could use some gamers.
"Oh sure you don't need to pay to win, just play for free! It's purely optional."
Except here's the thing: if you as a developer include the option to purchase currency, there's simply no way on this earth that the game design won't have taken that into account. It's incredibly hard to believe that at no point has someone gone "Hmm, is anyone going to bother buying currency if everything's so cheap/currency is so easy to come by?"
So, while I would love to believe Rockstar, until we actually see for ourselves I don't think it's wise to go around regurgitating their PR response like it's the Gospel Truth.
We should wait and see.
