Long story short, my 2 year-old rig is throttling back to 75% CPU when playing more intensive games which is causing massive FPS drop and sound weirdness (a kind of drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound).
The temperatures of stuff seem fairly constant so I'm pretty sure it's throttling down to prevent overheating.
Basically, is there a way to either:
1. Stop the throttling (though this would melt my PC, right?)
or 2. Do I need to replace something? Motherboard, cooling stuff?
I'm on Win7. I understand I'm being quite general here but any advice would be grand. Thanks very much!!
