I wonder if MS data has been effected by the recent "gamer girl" trend which is currently big in America. Girls are pretending they have an interest in games or running YouTube channels or podcast about them for popularity or to appear cool. Very few have an actual interest in games but are doing it because its fashionable.|
I'm not saying there aren't actual female gamers out there, I follow some on podcasts. But to focus on this demographic based on a passing fad is a dumb move. Sure they might create some long term fans, but looking at how quickly people got over motion games I don't think its worth turning your back on your long term core audience for.
