Yes. Consider also the difference between a "nice guy" and a "good bloke". You'd think the words nice and good were straight synonyms, and equally guy and bloke, but the combinations result in quite different things. You could "kind man" and "friendly fella" to the list also.
There's a difference between being a reasonable, pleasant person and someone who indentifies themself as 'a Nice Guy',
