I love the Monty Hall problem. I argued till I was blue in the face that once the first wrong door had been taken away that the contestant still had a 50% chance of being right, rather than the 33% chance they actually have.|
It took someone to make the numbers bigger to make me realise. Or, as he put it: if there are 100 glasses of water, all poisoned except 1, you choose 1 of them and then 98 of the remaining 99 are taken away, would you still want to change your original choice? "Damn straight," I said. It still took a couple of seconds of him looking at me meaningfully to get it.
