It's a lose-lose really. If Apple deleted the current version of app, to make room, then downloaded the patch (which is basically the whole app again) and it fails... people would be fuming.|
If they don't delete the current version of the app, people are fuming that they need so much free space.
In either case theres fuckall excuse for them not updating the available space in the App Store even after a user has deleted shit from the Settings menu. That said, it's preferable to the early Android debacle of the indexer frequently locking, crashing, and silently killing the battery in the background.
