Well after actually being refused a refund after being told I could...I kept on with it.|
I loved it in the end. A tad buggy, the aiming reticule was off and I had to constantly aim about a foot to the right and another foot above the target to hit anything. Meaning anything but a shotgun was pretty much useless. Framerates took a huge nosedive whenever you entered a new area and often meant I had to slow my vehicle down to avoid crashing into the roadblocks of dead cars.
The story missions were terrible towards the end. Started off with promise, but none of them went anywhere and the ending was just plain awful. It really needs fleshing out a hell of a lot more. It could do with about four times the amount of missions for each thread - minimum - to be worth it.
Having said that, everything outside of the storyline missions was brilliant. I really enjoyed the foraging, helping fellow survivors out, managing my inventory, constantly getting myself into shit through overconfidence, discovering new areas and loot spots, the way the zeds got harder, more decayed and more specials appeared the further you got...just everything shone and was bursting with ideas and good mechanics. Just all needs a bit more polish, a bigger map which opens out as the story progresses rather than all available at the beginning and a better storyline and it would be a massively great game instead of a very good if flawed one.
