I think the easiest fix for the night-time issue is to just have a script that fires at sundown that sets the date to one where the moon rises in an hour's time.|
A few weeks ago, we had a full moon not long after sunset. But each day sees the moon rise 1/28 of a day later and of course it's waning too. I think it's a new moon right now so even when it does rise there's no light. Being only able to see at night, without aid, for less than a week each month ain't much fun.
