Strategy is usually the genre I like the least, because I'm incompetent as a strategist. But I felt strangely compelled to buy this game. To my surprise, I'm liking it a lot.

Is it normal to lose the support of at least one country during your playthrough? I couldn't get Nigeria to calm the fuck down, and they withdrew from XCOM. Now there's a dark spot on the hologlobe that has got me worried. I'm wondering if that's going to bite me in the ass in the long run.

What is the most effective way to keep panic levels down? As usually happens when I try to play a strategy game, I feel like I'm investing in the wrong things.
Oh, and losing countries will generate less income and scientist, but as long as you don't lose 8 you'll be able to keep on fighting.
