    I didn't think AMD had any factories, I thought they sold them all off to avoid bankruptcy a year or so ago.

    On the production side however I hear the problem with the One chip is that it's not that it's complex, it's the amount of space it takes up on the wafer. Physically the chip is big and the design of it leaves virtually no room for defects in the chip, if there's too many they have to throw the chip away.

    Sony's chip for the PS4 is physically smaller so they can fit more chips per wafer and it's designed to allow for defects in the chip and overall makes it far cheaper to make. So in essence they don't need as much manufacturing capacity as microsft simply because they have a chip that's smaller.
