I see your point and don't completely disagree, but many levels are doing much more work than say SF4 on the Ps3/Xbox 360. So my question is, do they run at 1080p60? And could they handle more fx and maintain that level of gameplay fluidity?
To be fair it's a pretty much static background with a sprite running across it. My Commodore 64 could probably run NSMB wii u in 1080p at 60fps. It's not like it's exactly graphically taxing, nor does it requite AI, large vistas or open worlds.
I don't think they were running any of the demos above the 1080p that the consoles will actually run at.
And New Super Mario Bros U isn't 1080p.
