More refined but still using the same 1994 layout no doubt. So when PS4 launches here it will be the 20th anniversary of that core pad design. As a previous poster noted, the analogue sticks basically had to go where they are now as they were a mid gen addition during the PS1 era. The pad wasn't designed around them as they were an afterthought. |
Fine in the PS1 days where 3D gaming was in its infancy but not so great 20 years on.
If an engineer designed a pad from scratch now, with analogue control as the main input, their design would not be a Dualshock. Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft all opted for "primary" (that word again) analogue sticks, why haven't Sony?
