If you read my original post it says I expect most of the sequels to be good games. But games have an impact in their genesis that can never be seen again no matter how many sequels they get. The first time you leap off a tall building in Assasins Creed is great and still fun in the next games but it looses it's edge and awe inspiring nature.
Sequels are usually the same experience with some refinements and whilst thats great and I never disputed that, it's not the same as seeing a great new world. RDR is a fine example of keeping a similar set up in gaming but transplanting a world into it. But in a year that has seen so many sequels is it too much to ask for them to get in, do some work and come up with something new.
"Molyneaux, Miyamoto, Kojima spring to mind."
They aren't celebrities ask your average person who they are and they wouldn't have a clue ask them who speilberg is and you'll get a list of great movies. Even most gamers would struggle to list these guys beyond one title series. Not one of these men could launch a new IP on his name alone like speilberg or jackson can with movies. Don't ever remember seeing their names on any of their titles boxes in big letters. They might be the leading developers but they don't carry much weight with their names. Nobody says have you played Kojimas latest or Molyneuxs latest do they.
