    Don't Nintendo always do this though? Using older, more proven tech to keep costs down and make developers' lives easier. Can't say it hasn't worked for them so far.

    Proven technology? This is computer hardware. Five year old technology isn't proven, it's outdated.

    And as was noted, the Wii is the first Ninttendo console to go that route, when they couldn't keep up with Sony's and MS' R&D budgets. Then they lucked out with the Wii catching the casual market. I doubt that merely adding a touchscreen to the controler will repeat that feat.
