Only just got around to watching this, and just quickly caught up with the thread. I reckon Chopsen is spot on regarding the aim of the story; this was more about human nature, and specifically the direction of western society, than anything else. The quick shots of social media pages and YouTube comments were very well observed - in fact I'd be unsurprised if they'd been lifted from real postings with some ones changed.|
In that context, the only thing I think didn't ring true was seeing the majority of people still watching the televised event any longer than a few minutes, let alone the hour or so it was supposed to have been running for.
I was also confused about the garage worker who hanged himself. This was obviously the man whose finger was delivered to the news studio, but what was his connection to the kidnapper? What did I miss?
