I liked the mini-games in Alpha Protocal. They got extremely difficult late in the game unless Thorton invested heavily in the relevant skill (with both attributes and equipment), but that was not a design error.|
The pipe mini-game in Bioshock was also very good. Again, it got extremely difficult later int he game unless the player invested in the relevant gene tonics, but again, that was not a design error. The main problem was that it occurred too frequently for particular playstyles.
