I do not disagree. All that you have said is important and a good explanation of why market prices fall as they do, but what you have said complements my explanation -- it doesn't conflict. I am trying to explain the economic decision to defer consumption of a good (in this case, a videogame) from the perspective of an individual actor. These types of trade-offs and actions are what competitive markets, like what you describe, emerge from.
A lot of people look at the GotY edition and feel as though they made a mistake. And perhaps they did, because we all do make mistakes sometimes. However, it is not categorically the case, but rather relative to each individual and according to their specific preferences. I was trying to make explicit exactly what kind of trade-off is being made.
