I don't think I'll ever get bored of seeing how overrated Benitez is by Liverpool fans.
People see a Champions League win and a final and judge purely on that. Possibly the close run league second place.

What they don't see are the suspect signings and the horror show league runs - that year with the CL win also had an outside of the top 4 finish and his final season was the catalyst for the turd years that followed.
Yes, Rafa has given us plenty of European nights to live long in the memory, his tactics and setups were more suited for those games. You cannot deny that he made Liverpool a well oiled machine.

Dodgy signings can be attributed to scouting, or how his budgets were never properly managed by the club. Frequently our top targets were not signed up, for a matter of a million or two, a classic case was Simao Sabrosa (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/mar/09/championsleague200506.championsleague3).

Fingers have been rightly pointed at Hicks and Gillett not wanting to finance certain transfers, and also the chief transfer negotiator was Rick Parry, who frankly, fucked up plenty of moves.

Compared to now, we have a stable board, a manager that is getting results as well as performances and generally a rosier outcome. Thankfully the dark days of being in the relegation zone with Hodgson are well gone.
