As a lead designer working for a big publisher interviewing people I try to be swayed less by what they're wearing than by what comes out of their mouth but my first impression if someone walked in and looked too smart is that they might be a bit starchy.|
I honestly can't remember ever counting it against someone if they weren't formally dressed enough and I've given the job to some scruffy rascals who turned out to be awesome designers.
Totally depends on the person though. If you've got a choice of several places I'd say go as yourself, because if they're too formal or too informal then perhaps they weren't the right team to work with anyway?
