My interpretation my be incorrect, but here I go: parallax barrier works if your eyes are at a very specific distance from the screen. Since such specific distance is difficult to achieve, and even more difficult to maintain, your eyes continuously apply some sort of focus compensation. As they grow increasingly tired, such focus compensation is gradually lost, and you start seeing slightly doubled images, which is what I believe is referred to as ghosting.
(I hope some technical guy will shed some light on this)
