I have to say, I feel sorry for Clegg this morning. He's in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.|
He did always say that he'd negotiate with the party with the greatest mandate (admittedly, not defining what he meant by mandate). So now if he doesn't at least give the tories the chance to define their terms then he'll be hammered as being a hypocrite. On the other hand, some lib dem voters who changed to them have suddenly started to cry sell out. It's definitely a case of waiting and seeing - it's not like negotiations are a guaranteed government.
