The problem in America isn't necessarily that guns are legal, but that guns are glamourised. If it is in the constitution that an American has the right to bear arms for protection, ok, fair enough, I can't see that changing. But this should be a somber right. Not a celebrated, glamourised, flag-waving, yee-haw, babes-with-guns right. Why the hell should any American celebrate the requirement for deadly protection? They may as well be celebrating every one of the 30,000 gun related deaths (16,000 homicides) in the US every year. That may seem like a strong case for gun ownership for protection, but out of the 16,000 homicides only about 2% are legal self-defence.|
