Just finished Blindness by Jose Saramago. My brother bought it for me for christmas and I've only just got round to picking it up. I've now ordered two more of his novels. |
Blindness was one of those books I couldn't put down. It notates the spread of an unexplainable 'blind' virus amongst ordinary people in a city and how they struggle to stay alive with the aid of a women who for some reason hasn't gone blind. The cause of the blindness and transmission is never explained. The deeper you go into the book the darker and more helpless things become. Jose knows how to paint a very gritty and realistic picture of what would happen if everyone in the world suddenly lost their sight.
Really worth picking up a copy.
