ZOE3 "sort of pushed to the back"

Kojima not returning to his robots.

Hideo Kojima has said that Zone of the Enders 3 has been "sort of pushed to the back" due to "various things", meaning we probably won't see it for an age.

For reasons that make less sense than the (underrated) final third of Metal Gear Solid 2, Kojima revealed this in a Ustream fan Q&A session from a hotel bathroom in Paris, as reported by Andriasang.

According to the site, producer Kenichiro Imaizumi said that one reason a ZOE sequel won't be happening any time soon is that Kojima's team would need to stop working on another project first.

Check out our Zone of the Enders 2 retrospective if you're 10 years old and have no idea what we're on about.

As for the Taboo thing Kojima mentioned on Twitter a while ago, he said: "The Taboo is a project for high spec machines that I'm hoping to do myself next. It may or may not be a taboo, but for me, I think it will be quite the problematic game."

Kojima was at E3 this week, although it was producer Shigenobu Matsuyama who introduced the world to Metal Gear Solid: Rising, as Kojima wants to distance himself from it now that he has passed on the torch.

One game he is happy to be associated with, of course, is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, released today in Europe, for which he's in London today signing autographs.

I'd much rather have ZOE 3 than MGS Rising if I'm honest. There's been 5 MGS games in the last decade yet only 2 ZOE games. I love both, but I'm not interested in Rising. Give us ZOE 3 Kojima! I'll even buy 5 copies just so it helps your sales figures and makes you make a 4th game!

    Crap! I loved ZOE 1 and 2. :(

I can't stand MGS, and I enjoyed ZOE, so this is bad news from my PoV.

And wouldn't MGS be that much stronger as a franchise if its creator took a break from it now and then? Pushing out sequel after sequel always reduces quality.

Kojima fail. I found lately he has been much better when not confined by MGS. MGS 4 was a complete mess and frankly crap but I really enjoyed Boktai, Lunar Knights and the ZoE games.

Enough with MGS, do you really have to try and squeeze one out every damn year?
Not that I want them to do the same with ZoE, but mix it up a little, haven't you heard of diminishing returns? :p

The greatest loss is not being able to see what ZOE 3 would look like on the current generation of consoles. Was so looking forward to it ): Much rather see this or Snatcher over yet another MGS game.

Agreed with most. This man needs his creativity back. Catering to gamers kills creativity. Just look at microsoft. Rising looks meh and even if it is cool I could not care less.

Oh FFS reconsider or sell the rights to someone else it's a shame it's not being considered. Kojima shame on you SHAME! SHAME! Disembowel yourself right now to regain your honor.

MGS4 would've been better if his fans didn't start sending him death threats for not working on it at the start. Personally, I think Kojima is a good and ambitious person with great ideas, he just cares too much about this fans, mostly the MGS fans.

saddest news, imagine how good this could have been... not enough robot games around this gen! (or am i missing some??) espeically FAST ones, that speed/agility/total control was one of the things i loved so much about ZOE2... solved flying controls better than almost any other game i thought. and was such a looker too. Vanquish looking like next best thing now maybe??

Kojima obviously prefers MGS because the other games don't allow him to indulge his amateur film maker fetish.

    ZOE was awesome.

B-b-b-b-but I asked him to make Zone of the Enders 3 at the MGS: Peace Walker launch and he smiled! That was a pity-smile wasn't it? :(

    That's...great to know jannylon.
Anyway, I met Hideo Kojima at the London signing in HMV. I begged him for ZOE3 and he laughed. He obviously understood but his translator told me "he knows, he knows, don't worry". As the security guard pushed me away, I also asked him to release Policenauts on the Wii. If it happens, you can thank me.

I guess it's time to bring out and dust off my PS2 to play ZoE 1 2 for old time sake! These games were brilliant and it's very sad not to see a ZoE 3. They would make a killing if they brought it out on these newer consoles.

Whats up with the spammers these days!!!! I DO NOT WANT TO BUY ANYTHING FFS!

Anyways it would be great if ZOE3 went multi platform and i found ZOE games to be a lot better armored core.
