Slice of proceeds to charity.

From the creative hands that bought us the Zelda-themed Wii, comes a new handheld creation paying homage to Link's legend.

It's a golden DS Lite that features a backlit diecast sword and shield crest, which rotates to match the orientation of the hardware. There's also a custom charge stand and two painted stylii included (silver and black).

Unfortunately only those of you living in the US will be able to buy the item from eBay, where the current bid stands at USD 610. Creator Morpheon Mods also promises to give 15 per cent of the proceeds to the Child's Play charity, as it did with the Wii mod.

Child's Play was set up in 2003 to donate toys and games to hospitals around the world. It asks for contributions from the world of gaming and has received millions of pounds worth of donations so far. You can find out more on the Child's Play website.

Just like the Wii this looks fantastic.

I also like the stand and its ability to charge the DS.

With the sword and shield logo sticking out, it'll most literally be a pain in the arsse though. If you want to carry it in your backpocket.

But then I guess it's more one for them crazy collector types who don't even take it out of the box in the first place.

I actually have that Zelda pin (sword and shield) that's stuck to the top of it. You can buy them in my local GameStation (and presumably others) for a few quid.

The sword/shield is metal, not plastic.

Just spray paint your machine, and give the money you wouldve spent on this tat to charity.

I hate this kinda thing, just like "charity" music records. Why buy the latest shitty comic relief single just because "its for charity", and never listen to the crap again? Why not just give the money you wouldve spent on said single to the charity? That way they get 100% of your money, and you save the environment by not spending money on tat which you dont need.
