Yet more MotorStorm downloads

Mirror tracks, new songs, more.

Evolution Studios has pumped yet more free downloadable content into MotorStorm in the form of mirrored racetracks, a couple of new songs and some other tweaks.

Perhaps most practically appealing (and to be fair quite long overdue) is the 2D car-selection screen, which will finally reduce the strain of waiting for the 3D cars to rumble up onto the little selection pedestal before each race.

And while the mirrored tracks are for online multiplayer only, that's half the fun of playing MotorStorm anyway, so deal with it! Or, if you don't buy that, hopefully they will be made available offline too.

The 3.1 patch (for it is he/she/it) also introduces a new proximity meter for MotorStorm mode, and the names of the two additional songs are Devil's Crossing by Elite Force and Beat The Devil by Jiffster.

MotorStorm certainly hasn't been suffering from a dearth of downloads since its launch alongside the PS3 in late March; as you can see from our gamepage, Evo has been pumping premium and free downloadable updates into its oily racing mitts the whole time.

The game isn't bad either - one of the PS3's best in fact, and well worth revisiting if you've not tried out any of the sprawl of downloads thrown up since you last played it.

    Anyone know how to unlock the greyed out Eagle's Nest track.

    Think the 2D selection only works online. Didn't seem to kick in for me last night when I did the update.

    Whoever thought the loading time for car selection was acceptable should have been taken out the back and strangled with the tape from a C90.

    Why not just store the cars models/textures on the HDD to speed up the old car selection screen ?

    Hopefully the 2D selection screen is for single player mode also...

    Damn straight, made worse by the fact that other than the different classes, the different skins of the same type of car meant diddly squat in terms of handling, breaking etc.

    LOL PS3 games can't even handle 3d select screens! TEH POWAZ OV TEH CELL1111oneELEVENTY!!!11!... Isn't DLC usually meant to upgrade a game? 2D ftw (even though Sony promised you 4D games) PMSL. That is all.

    Technically a stunning game. But one that can't manage 3D vehicle selection very well, yes that always puzzled me.

    Namco managed it. With the PS1. With Ridge Racer.

    Is some of this free? I tire of this drip-drip one car for 99p, a reverse track for £1.99, a new track for £3.49 etc etc.

    ^ LOL! Sorry but when was the last time you saw a 2D select screen in a 3D car game? I think even NFS on the 3DO had 3D select screens and that was like 13 years ago. What will the next download be? Play as a monotone 8bit sprite?

    Still one of my fav games on the system. The new Devil's Crossing track is brilliant. One of the best tracks in the game. Evo and Sony are really showing how to do DLC with this title.

    peterfll, I agree MS is a technically stunning game. Too many posters here have hang ups about the lack of HDR and some low res textures. The brilliance of this game is what's happening under the hood rather than the graphical flippery the eye can see.

    I dont like the PS3 either, played on my mates a few weeks back and didnt see anything other than Motorstorm that was worth playing. Also didnt see anything that couldnt be done on the 360.

    Anyway, stop being a loser fanboy. At least Evo Studios is doing something right by offering a load of free content and ironing out problems, could do with more of that on Xbox Live if you ask me.

    Yeah man, you're right! If only 360 games were so poorly developed that they needed downgrading into 2D aswell, shucks! :'(

    Agree that the newest track is just super. Played it a lot in time attack lately but didnt find anyone playing it online? Or I just missed options for finding these dlc-tracks?

    I can confirm the new 2D selection screen is only available in online mode.

    That's all very nice and I'm definitely grabbing that when I check the store later; but I can't help but be a little disappointed that they overlooked this musical gem (and in theme with the latest additions): http://www .youtube.com/watch?v=logm5J-Y8Vc (audio) from the Motorstorm tracklist.

    Mirrored Racetracks makes for more options, and 2D vehicle selection means speedier to get to the racing, and besides it's an option, so if the original setup is more your taste, then you can stick with it. Great. :)

    Fair play, but I'd just like to say in my defence, Your mum is a pig (as you just admitted) and it's kinda hard to get a full on boner with a sow, she was trying to snuffle for truffles in my crack and I just couldn't hold a stiffy :(

    I bought my Ps3 with Motorstorm and Resistance... they are both great. Motorstorm have sweet graphics (i personaly advise everyone to choose the inside the vehicle view), crazy races, superbly designed tracks, great music and chaotic multiplayer.... it's a very singular experience (there is nothing like it in the videogame world).
    It's nice to see so much support and care (PSN) to games like Warhawk, Resistance, Motorstorm etc...

    septimus is a PS3 zealot anyway. I'm a GAMER.

    If ANY platform has obvious flaws or shortcomings, then I'll talk about them, because it will impair my enjoyment in games, and will in severe cases (PS3) stop me from buying the console until it becomes a bargain.

    PS3 lacks RAM (severely), and has a piss poor seek time and transfer rate from the Blu-Ray.

    Reason? It's a Blu-Ray video player / Cell box trojan horse, with gaming functionality bolted on.


    No fanboyism required. Sony are fucking you.

    That's a very interesting question and I'm very glad you asked it. I've researched this subject for many months and after many comparisons with the XBox360 I've come to the conclusion that, yes, the PS3 is definitely lol. Hope that answers your question.
