Hmmm... I played the Yakuza 3 demo ages ago... at least six months ago and I'm sure I got it from the Japanese PSN. Is this a newer demo then?

And Famitsu gave this game 4 more points than they gave Lair (34/40)... that's really comforting... ;)

@Darren

yeah think this is the 'real' Yakuza 3 (modern day) while the other was the samurai one

Oh right... I didn't realise there were two. But, yeah, the other one was the samuari one as you said.

The demo is excellent, quite a lot of dialogue which you wont be able to understand but the fighting engine is just as good as it ever was but with the Kenzan improvements (selecting weapon on the Dpad is especially useful).

Now if only they would add subtitles to it.

Its generally known that Famitsu are bought, and for sale, weekly. Noone in their right mind should put any attention to their scores. Read it for the news, id say.

I like the principle of their scoring system, I don't treat it as x/40 though, rather 4 lots of x/10. You can get a nice scope of opinions.

God, I so hope this gets a Western release soon, and hopefully with the original Japanese voice talent.

Yakuza is a well reviewed series, at least, even if it hasn't sold that well here. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

It was, sort of; the games media referred to it as such while Sega just reused the number. It's similar to the way Vice City used to be referred to as GTA IV at one point.

Does anyone know the size of the demo?

demo's 1217mb, i just downloaded it. the sad part is, it wasn't even worth the wait. i was a big fan of the first 2 yakuza games, but this one is shockingly bad.

it seems they didn't anything to the old ps2 code and just upscaled the graphics. quite a disapointment...

Never played the first two games, but I often hear the game has some similarities to the Shenmue games which is more than enough to get me interested.

I'll download it sometime this week.

Wow this is terrific news,
I'll get to try it at least, as a western translation is looking unlikely.
(which is a crime against humanity of course)

Played the demo yesterday. Quite nice. Im not a fan of one-against-many-combat, but the world, voice overs and "feel" is just right.

Whats up with all the jaggiez thou? Its beautiful outside, but looks like shit inside at times.
