XBLA Keflings follow-up due this year

"Much more than a sequel," says developer.

Xbox Live developer NinjaBee has confirmed A World of Keflings will release this year.

It promises local multiplayer for the first time, plus a load of features asked for by the community following the release of the original A Kingdom for Keflings.

"A World of Keflings is much more than a sequel. It's a new game with a ton of new features, including some innovative ideas that stand out from both Live Arcade and full retail games," NinjaBee president Steve Taylor told IGN.

"A World of Keflings also has a new story focus, with new exotic lands, characters, quests, buildings, customization options, and a lot more."

A Kingdom for Keflings, released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2008, was a gentle and charming city-building strategy game. One of its key lures was the ability to use your Xbox Live Avatar in the game.

Sounds pretty much like a sequel and nothing more. The first one got dull pretty fast imo.
It was charming and all but the gameplay was a bit of a shore after awhile.

I enjoyed 1. I hope this expands and makes it more varied.

Dunno, for some reason I managed to play the first one to the end but it was just a mindless chore most of the time since all you ever do is assemble rooms according to the plans.

I liked it, it was a nice laid back game with a cute aesthetic. Sequel looks good as well, bit more variety and more personality on your Keflings and I'll definitely be picking this up.

Local multi player will be a great addition. My son loves to play but he needs me to help him out.

I really liked the first. Harmless, no-pressure fun. The idea of no conflict of threat may seem strange initially, but it's more of a sandpit in which to do your own thing without intereference. I got fairly bored with it but only after several days play, which I most definitely got my monies worth from. Nice game and definitely one for those with kids.

First one definitely didn't have a lot of depth but it was great for an XBLA, something you could quickly get into and spend a lot of time with. Local multiplayer would be a great addition.

Wonderful, I loved the first game! Hopefully this one doesn't suffer from frame rate issues and expands upon the first game without messing with what made it so enjoyable: stressfree, relaxing, methodical gameplay
