XBLA champ Castle Crashers expands

Crash Commando update on the way too.

Celebrated Xbox Live Arcade game Castle Crashers has expanded with new characters and weapons, as part of a mini-update released last night.

For 160 Microsoft Points (£1.36/€1.92) you can add a chainsaw, NG Skull Mace, Dragonhead orb and Necromancer and Cult Minion characters. Castle Crashers, a side-scrolling co-operative beat-'em-up, is made by Alien Hominid mastermind The Behemoth. It's jolly good, too, as our Castle Crashers review points out.

PSN game Crash Commando is also in-line for some new content on 27th August, according to the European PlayStation blog.

The update fixes some problems and adds six new characters split into three packs of two: Colonel Chaos and Army Chick, Nukem Ninja and Maid Mayhem, and Gangster Rapper and Reggae Rasta.

New characters? Meh, I'd much rather have a shitload of new levels and such.
  • viper_h #2 2 years ago

But that required developers to actually do some work!

Yeah and we are all lazy apparently.

Viper_h is flipping burgers all day... now THAT is work!

I'd love Castle Crashers to get a proper update - new levels and some more achievements!

I'm waiting for Castle Crashers to be chosen for XBLA's Deal of the Week promotion, but with constantly healthy sales I'm afraid it won't happen soon :-\

Oh, he isn't saying that ALL developers are lazy, just you dizzy. ;)

I'd rather have a cheese quarter-pounder with chips and a chocolate malt, but for €2? Not likely.

Yeah, art and animation assets create themselves.

Even at just €2 this is content that's already in the game.
The only work the developers have to do here, is uploading the unlock the key.

You sure about that? Are the characters fully animated? I don't remember a chainsaw before, might have missed it.

Will these prices eventually go to App store prices?
  • penhalion #11 2 years ago

Got to agree with viper_h here. The additions look like left over art from the game and should simply have been given away in a general update. They make no difference to the game at all and the chances are you will not even use the extras as they aren't as powerful as the stuff you get just by a standard completion of the game!

I don''t really mind paying for left-over assets and I'm sure they'll have done a little to add them into the menus, maybe animating extra attacks and giving them a few stats. But even at a shade over a quid there's almost nothing there. If you had to buy the whole game at rates like this it would cost well over a thousand pounds.

    @sneetch
They're not actually accesable in the game, but when people looked into the code all of the new characters, weapons and orbs were found, way back when the game was first released. They were also seen in many of the early preview builds
