WoW South Park up for Emmy

Episode is series' sixth nom.

The episode of South Park that showed the familiar potty-mouthed children becoming hopelessly addicted to World of Warcraft has been nominated for an Emmy.

It will be the sixth time the rude and satirical cartoon has been in line for "the television equivalent of the Oscars", giving it a chance at its second win - the first was in 2004 for the "Best Friends Forever" episode revolving around Kenny and his PlayStation Portable powers.

Games have been the inspiration for numerous episodes of South Park, including the Emmy-nominated parody of Pokmon, "Chinpoko Mon", and the two-parter based around Cartman's impatient wait for a Nintendo Wii, "Go God Go".

The "Make Love, Not Warcraft" episode featured Cartman defecating at his computer chair into a bed-pan held by his mum as the quartet battle tirelessly to prevent the end of the World... of Warcraft.

It was funny but not a patch on the Tom Cruise/Scientology episode.

"Dad! Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet!"

    Genius.

    BENGAY!!! BENGAAAAAAAAAAY!!

I dont really know what it is, but it cracks me up every time.

Also the way they speak to each other. 'Ok I want you to stack flaming whirlwind on pincers of power, ohkaaay?'. Its so authentic, it hurts.

    "Spare some change?"

Shirley "Night of the living homeless" was the best episode ever.

Repeat after me "THEY TOOK OUR JOBS" must be said many times over and louder and faster, ending up with THEYTOKRJOBZ. I'm a little bit country. WOW was a brilliant ep as well.

Just seen that ep for the first time (thank you Willum!), and the accuracy with the way they've satirised it is absolutely spot on. I kept getting flashbacks to all those YouTube vids with all the deadly serious talk between Cartman and the gang.

Brilliant ep. And the "How can we kill what already has no life" is absolute quality!

This better not be beaten by CSI or other crap.

The 300 episode was one of the best things I've seen in a long time.

The WoW episode was also class.
South Park is easily one of the best things on TV these days. I'm not sure why it seems to have fallen out of favour with terrestrial broadcasters.

South Park is hands-down the most consistantly funny thing on TV (or, ahem, the internet). For people who still haven't seen it: look out for any part with Stan's dad and the 7 week montage sequence. Utter genius.

I do love that episode but surely it was first out donkeys years ago? How is it still eligible for an award?
  • Dale_Gribble #21 5 years ago

Great episode it deserved a oscar. Thanks willum.

Stan's dad cracks me up especially when he does his build ups.

Wait...my dad is at the old people comittee...and if the old people comittee finishes at 8 and it's 8 now, then to get home they all must.... OH. MY. GOD!!

GET OFF THE STREETS, OLD PEOPLE ARE DRIVING GET OFF THE STREETS!

    Ah the memories.

    Simpsons did it!

What were the 300 and scientology (I refuse to give it the courtesy of a capital letter...) eps called?
  • Willum #24 5 years ago

Scientology: "Trapped in the Closet" from season 7.

    300: "D-Yikes!" from season 11.
