WOW Lich King talents in full

Beta starts, official talent calculator goes up.

Blizzard has published the official talent calculator for next World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King on the game's website.

The calculator allows you to browse full details of all the new talents coming to the game, and experiment with the new specialisation options for your own class - or for new hero class, the Death Knight.

We detailed many of the major changes in our hands-on impressions from the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational a few weeks back.

Wrath of the Lich King has just entered beta testing, and Eurogamer MMO will be bringing you first-hand experiences of the expansion as soon as we manage to log on to the struggling servers.

The Lich King beta arrives mere days after upstart rival, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, began the new "guild beta" phase of its testing cycle, and invited a fresh wave of players onto its servers. We'll bring you report on WAR from E3 later today.

The two MMO giants now seem locked into a head-on collision course that should culminate later this year. With the might of the world's two biggest publishers - Activision Blizzard and EA - behind them, this is certain to be the fiercest battle for players in the history of MMO gaming.

It's so close we can taste it. However, Wrath of the Lich King has no official release date, or even release window, as yet.

I've been on Beta since Saturday. All I can say is... it's good. Very, very good. The Death Knight starter quests have to be seen to be believed, and are probably worth buying the expansion for alone.

Do you need to be EXACTLY 55 to be a Death Knight then? Does it matter what race/class you are?

I better get levelling that alt.

    erm no.
All suscribers who buy WOTLK can create a deathknight of ANY race currently in the game.
so yeah - gnome deathknights, Tauren Deathknights etc...
all you need is a spare open character slot - time to delete those bank alts :/

The DK starts at lvl 55 or so i believe.
check the blizz site for more exact info.

If you start at 55, does that mean you get 46 talent points to spend?

World of Warcraft, Wrath of The Litch King, the marketing microsite wrote:

"Simply have a character of at least level 55 on the World of Warcraft account you play, and you will be able to create a new level-55 death knight of any race (if on a PvP realm, the death knight must be the same faction as your existing character)."

so you too can annoy the fuck out of everyone with a pink-haired gnome Death Knight, but only if, in Blizz's terms, you've L'd2P.

Death Knights start at level 55 with a few spells and no talent points. You have to do EVERY quest in their start zone (which isn't a chore, since they're all brilliant), and most quests reward you 1 or 2 talent points, along with a couple of gold (so that you're not desperately poor when you go out into the world), new spells and some very overpowered armour.

By the time you're done in the start zone, you have a full armour set and the right number of talent points (usually 47 by the time you're done). DKs get new abilities every level (not just even) so that they have about the same as all other classes by the time you reach 70.

I got my beta key from knowing someone who works for Blizzard in Paris, everyone working there got a few to give out to friends and family. It's always about who you know. ;)

Do you really think Warhammer will be any competition for WoW? :D

I was thinking about rolling a Draenei Deathknight for a long while, but all the whinging and moaning on the official forums about how people really shouldn't roll a gnome (lore reasons or some such usually) means I most certainly am now!

Also, it will be a cute, female, and pink-haired just for good measure! :p

The NDA was lifted when the alpha test ended, hence all the new info everywhere. :)
