@Chak - did you just read the title and panic? :) It WAS held up a year (probly D3 as well) which means we should have been paying them both by now if it wasnt for WoW. The delay at least allowed DoW to grow in popularity and EA to totally screw up RA and C&C..

It'll be interesting to see how SC2 comes to againest the oter RTSs these days, but I'm sure the rabid fanboi hype train will be along to perclaim that SC2 is the best RTS ever

Its interesting that with all the millions that Blizzard make from WoW subscriptions they don't have enough resources to have seperate development teams for WoW and Starcraft, Diablo.

@Nephirion

That was before WoW had even been released yet. They have grown a lot since and probably do have quite substantial development teams for both titles by now.

And yes, of course SC2 will be the best RTS ever, as long as it manages to surpass its own prequel. ;-)

This is what worries me about other developers jumping on the MMO bandwagon; time, effort and resources required to develop and sustain an MMORPG mean that everything else is either delayed or canceled.

I can see the likes of Bio-Ware and Bethesda (because, let's face it, as much as it doesn't it, The Elder Scrolls is, unfortunately, gonna go online) not releasing any offline RPGs for a long, long time. I doubt the planned Mass Effect trilogy will end on current consoles despite what Bio-Ware had planned.

Obviously this issue doesn't hurt Blizzard too bad; WoW's success ultimately enforces their other titles, and since it takes them an eon to release new games anyway it won't feel like much of a delay on the likes of StarCraft III/Diablo to most people.
