WOW: Call of the Crusade patch today

Raid, battleground, PVP levelling all in.

World of Warcraft is updated to patch 3.2, otherwise known as Call of the Crusade, on European servers this morning after appearing in the US yesterday.

Call of the Crusade introduces a new short raid and heroic dungeon at the Crusaders' Coliseum, an 80-player keep-capture battleground called the Isle of Conquest, and - in a major change - the ability level your character in player-versus-player battlegrounds or turn off experience gain altogether.

The Argent Tournament series of quests and challenges introduced in the last patch is expanded, druids get fancy new graphics for their cat and bear forms, and mounts (including "epic" and flying mounts) will now be available to levelling characters much earlier and cheaper.

You can read the headlines and patch notes over at the American WOW site while you wait for European servers to be put back online - which should be at 2pm in the UK, 3pm in central Europe.

    YEAAHH!

Oh fuck, I only bought an epic mount yesterday >:(

BUT WOO NOW I BELIEVE I CAN FLYY!!!

Also woo @ stupid twinkers being seperated from normal people in battlegrounds. The 51-60 bracket in Alterac Valley has been an absolute disaster for the Alliance in the last few weeks because of an army of stupidly geared up Horde regulars.

As someone who likes battleground PvP with no interest in this kind of outrageous behaviour, this update is game changing and I expect I will love it so much more.

The new raid is one room all with re-cycled models. Not impressed.

The PvP changes and content looks good though.

I get to be a polar bear BOOYA!

The real new content of the patch is the battleground, suprised they called it Call of the Crusade when the Coliseum is just filler content. Does look fun though.

    what next?

a skip tutorial button on entering the start zone for an instant lvl 80?

They're letting us make characters on both factions on a PvP server as well.

The Americans are reporting some mad bugs; Horde have access to the Alliance AH, some hunters have an extra talent point it seems.

    edit: typos

actally paid lvl 55s would be too far off

    Also this:
"As we've already discussed, we’re in the process of developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. To prepare for this new service, we've removed the restriction that prevents players from creating both Horde and Alliance characters on a PvP realm"

I sense a lot of angry level 1 alt making by ganking victims.

Maybe an article is due on how Blizzard is producing less content as time goes by. Think about it:

    Original WoW
Raids: Onyxia, Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn Qiraj Ruins, Ahn Qiraj Temple, Zul gurub, Naxxramas

    Burning Crusade
Raids: Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon, Mount Hyjal, Coilfang Reservoir, Tempest Keep Eye, Black Temple, Zul aman, Sunwell

    And for Wrath?
Naxxramas - already in original WoW, so just retuned boss fights
Ulduar - no complaints, genuine raid instance
Malygos - Onyxia style fight, single room
Obsidian Sanctum Onyxia style fight, single room
    Coliseum - guess what...

True... the WoW-addicts keep on playing/paying anyway. Maybe they are moving some of their better team members to the new MMO while they milk WoW?

Lack of content? Are you people insane?

Compare WoW to any other current MMO and the only one that comes close on content is EVE.

Perhaps you should wait untill WotLK is finished before trying to compare the amount of content? I believe that Molten Core was the only raid that WoW launched with. Black Temple, Zul aman and the Sunwell were released well into Burning Crusade. Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon are also Onyxia style fights.

Unless they've announced that with 3.2 WotLK is ended and I missed it then it's too early to compare.

Lich King feels underwhelming compared with burning crusade, when you go in a raid instance you want more out of it than a few trash mobs then a boss, the feeling of exploration is absent in the new raid instances
  • spudsbuckley #19 3 years ago

The feeling of exploration kind of goes away after your first run of a raid meaning that a large dungeon becomes a boring slog during repeated attempts which will occur if you're farming for gear/badges.
  • Gurgeh #20 3 years ago

@spudsbuckley: I am comparing the content being issued in this expansion with the previous expansion and the original game post release (although you should probably scrub Molten Core and Onyxia from the comparison as they were done before release). Whichever way you dice it, there's been much less content this expansion than before.

@sneetch: Blizzard have already said they are only planning one more raid this expansion, Icecrown Citadel. That will make 2 full raids compared to 5 post WoW release and 5 or 6 in TBC.

  • spudsbuckley #21 3 years ago

    Blame Diablo 3, i reckon.

They need to time the release of WoW stuff very carefully with D3 coming out as well this year. Don't want to fuck up either of the playerbases.

I love the patch because they fixed one of my main annoyances: You can now see the sale price of items in the popup even when not interacting with a vendor. No longer will I stand in the middle of a zone and wonder which of three different grey loot items will actually bring some coin.

Death Knight flying mount is still 950 gold though. :(
