World in Conflict fixed-up

DX10 performance improved.

The latest patch for World in Conflict will greatly improve performance on graphics cards supporting DirectX 10.

Developer Massive Entertainment has also included lots of little wartime bits and pieces to help you customise your profile, and made numerous smaller fixes, tweaks and balance adjustments.

The patch is expected to go live later this week, although a final date is still stuck in the trenches. Or air raid shelter, like the one we were forced to walk around every year at my old school.

A full list of changes can be found on the official forums.

World in Conflict came out on PC a couple of weeks ago, and earned hearty war-cheers from Eurogamer for its sumptuous but familiar real-time strategy gameplay.

    - Performance on ATI DX10 cards has been improved.
    - Performance on DX10 has generally been improved.

Thanks God for that, I was beginning to think it was my (still pretty new) system showing its first sign of obsolescence.

Nice! The game is a real geat game. Played some 16 person MP last weekend and it was real fun. It feels more like TF/Zone in Battlefield/Counterstrike etc. as each map is only run for aobut 10 minutes and each player can take care of different roles for their tam(air, tank etc). The batte flowed back and forth.

I did an article on WiC performance (ested a few CPU's, memory speed and GPUs) and ATI's HD2x00 cards performed real bad with DX10. So I'm happy (although it means doing all those tests again).

Wonder if they have fixed the issue with the game freezing and pausing every 10 seconds or so on anything above low settings for some people.

I tried multiplayer last night for the first time. No one ever plays infantry and too many go support. Not a good experience imo. Still... watching 4 nukes go off at once was immensely entertaining.. /save replay

Magic Panda: I guess it depends on who you play with. The games I played had a healthy mix of infantery, tanks, air and support. In the end you need all roles because with a good opponent you are going to be wiped out unless you work together.
