Don't have a PSP but I can't wait to play Wipeout HD on my PS3. Isn't it due out sometime in December?

I'm actually with bengali on this one. Where the hell is the EO review?!

Edit: Not too interested on Wipeout by the way, but I know it's popular so thought I'd pop in :-)

We only got our review copy about 10 days after EO came out, sadly. Should be up later this week.

Is this one of those games that looks better in motion? It looks terrible in the screenshots. =/

Darren - according to the founts of knowledge that are the wipeout HD gamepage here and on GameFAQs the release date is still to be announced. There's meant to be a trailer of it on the PSN in december though

I really loved wipeout pure especially as it was the first PSP game I bought and this adds yet another name to the list of games that will tempt me in the run up to christmas.

Almost of the stuff listed as new featured in Wipeout Fusion on the PS2... so is there actually ANYTHING new in this game?

how balanced are the weapons? I gave up on Wipeout because it became a combat game instead of a racing game....I can't do both it seems!

Never forgave the first one on PSP for the slow down - I'd rather see a bit of pop up than slowdown.

Will never forget my mate (R.I.P.) who said about the original PS1 Wipeout when we saw it in London on a demo pod before release - "WOW - thats Fking amazing you can see it building the track!"

think the original PS suffered from Sony suddenly deciding that 222Mhz was the max they were allowing i.e. loss of a third of Cpu cycles

That looks so clean, seriously. That's all I would ask for a Wipeout HD version. Maybe more polygons but certainly just the same lack of visually complex textures. Keeping it stylized and clean.

Lovely.

ROFL at all the drug references in the article. It is a very trippy game though.

Damn it, the highly purchasable games just keep on coming...

Sounds more like 12 for me :)

Shame the DS doesn't have quality racers other than Mario Kart.. a 2D Micro Machines on the thing would be killer though!

I was really blown away by the graphics on this one, maintained at a blinding rate. Puts other PSP titles to shame. Would be much better with a new PSP on the TV though I reckon...

and even includes an option to play a kind of LAN game where you all connect to a router rather than a single player, the upshot of which is smoother gameplay.

Not that, is a good idea. Right, where's my PSP?... No seriously, where the fuck has it gone?

wipeout pure was in my umd drive for a few months, and got played everyday, this will be the same story i am sure.

Especially with online multiplayer and the download packs they will bring out again.

I will also be buying Wipeout HD, hopefully that makes an appearance before Xmas.

I've always loved Wipeout, but having played almost all of them to death I actually think I may skip this one.

Shame you weren't able to try the online multiplayer as that seems to be the only bit that could really catch my attention...

Will definately be picking this one up. Last Wipeout game I really enjoyed was 2097, adored it. This looks superb, not much mentioned about the music however, good soundtrack?

I've ordered it from play for €27, no delivery charge. fucking hell! And Play had FFT: War of the Lions for only €29. WTF? I paid €49.99 in HMV two weeks for it. Has the £ dropped even lower now or something?

Anyway, that price for Pulse is a steal. I love Wipeout, Pure was excellent and stayed in PSP for a long time.

A few quick answers-

Yes, it runs at 333 Mhz.

Yes, it supports the player's own MP3s.

And yes, it looks better in motion :)

Narrow tracks are the point of Wipeout, once you start playing 'properly'.

Having more Wipeout on my PSP will make not having access to the PS3 version easier to handle.
Pure is probably Sony's finest gameplay moment in the past few years so just more of the same would suit me for Pulse. Looking forward to trying the new structure though.

Hope the soundtrack is as good as Pulse too.
