Despite being a big fan of Wipeout I found Pure to be a bit soul-less to be honest. I couldn't even tell you why, it just didn't grab me like the classics in the series (e.g. 2097).

With any luck though this one will be the Wipeout I have been hoping for.

"Eurogamer: Every so often somebody mentions the mystical PS3 WipEout game. Will that and Pulse enjoy any kind of interoperability or compatibility?

Clark Davies: WipEout PS3... yeah, can't really talk about that one yet. Too soon. Sorry!"

So, evidently, it exists! :D Anyone else looking forward to that, might want to also investigate Koei's Fatal Inertia, featured in the latest PS3 Gamerzine. It looked good, from their coverage. :)

And not a moment too soon either.

If there is one game that would have pushed online PSP games early on, that game is Wipeout Pure. SCE wasted a golden opportunity right there, and right at the beginning of the PSP life cycle.

Pulse should amend for that mistake...

This sounds excellent. Sounds like they're really expanding on what Pure was. Good to see it not being a boring re-run like RR2 supposedly was.

I want a PSP mainly to play these Wipeout games after loving the PS1 original (and NOT the PS2 version, urgh). Is it worth getting a PSP for this sole reason???

After reading this, Pulse is now my Most Wanted Game of the year. Almost all of the tracks are zone tracks?! Importing mp3's!? Online multiplayer!? Single-player ranking and progression system?! The game sounds like it could be priced at $100 and still be worth it.

Is there anyone left from the original Wipeout teams? It seems like the game is nothing more than a brand now. Pure was 'alright' as a 2097 clone, and was certainly more of a Wipeout game than Fusion, but it still lacked that daring magic that marked the original PSX trilogy.

What happened to the cutting edge art? The out-there track designs? It's all so... boring.
