I didn't think they could improve WipeOut HD but WO Fury is a thing of true beauty.

Can't they just sell it online for £20, that way I don't need to mess around with all those pesky disks. But really, I'll still buy this.

This probably becomes the game I'd get when I finally buy a PS3.
Will still wait for Christmas though, hoping for some decent bundles when the retailers go to war with each other.

Anyone know if a wholly original iteration of Wipeout is still heading to PS3? I remember, once upon a time, the intention behind 'HD was more akin to GT HD Concept and that another, all-bells-and-whistles Wipeout PS3 was also in the works. What with the extensiveness of Fury and now this BD release, it seems Wipeout HD has grown up into the full product and there's no talk of any other version anymore.

Wipeout HD alone is almost enough to make me purchase a PS3, but I think I've had my fill of this portion of the series, having spent the past 4 years on both PSP games as well as the memory-card-knackering-but-otherwise-great PS2 Pulse. I'm forever waiting for word of a new, magic combination of Wipeout1's atmosphere, 2097/3SE's handling and HD's speed/graphics...

Fury is brilliant, I really like the events were you have to destroy the mines. This is a must buy for those who haven't downloaded it, and for £20 it's a steal.

How is "just having downlaoded the thing" a bad situation to be in?

Are you not playing and enjoying the game? What does it matter how you got it?

Er, Donnie - there was a clue in the game name... "HD" and all.

No idea why the "f**k I downloaded it" brigade have a problem. Google the disc cover and print it on a blank DVD case if you really need the joy of walking to the cupboard and inserting a disk, as opposed to just pressing X (and at 20 quid, it's not like there's going to be a big value in trade in). HDD games FTW.

It took some patching to get the balance right, but GitSome has it right on the nose. It truly is a thing of beauty. And has the added benefit of making you a stare-out world champion, because blinking is a very bad idea at top whack.

What a daft question. For the same price I would rather have a disc I can sell on now that I have completed the game. Or lend to a friend if I wanted to keep it.

About time the "Best racing game this gen"tm got a proper release.

Last wipeout i played was the ps2 one, After falling through the track twice on my first go i traded it for Oni!!! This however is a masterpiece. A term i do not use lightly.

I like it having it on the hard drive, but I'm glad Sony are backing it enough to give it a disc release.

A few weeks ago Eg did an interview with teh wipeout guys and i got the feeling that they did not think that a BD release was worthwhile and now they introduce the game on BD. At the least it is well priced.

And if this sells well on disc could we be on for a brand new wipeout with new tracks.

Couldn't agree with you more. The thought of buying a PS3 slim just for Wipeout has crossed my mind more than once.

Until I play the PS3 titles to know for sure, I still think 3SE is the king.

3william56: For a start, it's cheaper to buy on Blu-ray, which is fuckin ridiculous. And you have a physical disc to give to somebody else/sell on.

Hope it sells mental amounts so they get encouraged to release even more tracks - a HD version of the original tracks would be great. I also completely agree with the comments from 3William56 - the game can make your eyes bleed at top speed.

Nah he does. Tag checks out. He should sell it though before it gives him an ulcer!
